Hey everyone! I just got back from an incredible night at the Starlite Pavilion in Queens, and I had to share all the amazing moments with you. It was a fundraiser for our beloved DJ, Naryndra “Roshan” Shiwcharran, who’s been going through a tough time with kidney failure and recovering from a stroke. But let me tell you, the love and energy in the room were off the charts!
The Stars of the Night
First off, we had the one and only Terry Gajraj, the Guyana Baboo himself. He was mashing up the place like only he can, showing up early and staying late, always finding something to do to help out. His performance was electric, and you could see how much he cares about Roshan.
Our emcees for the night, Lakshmee Singh and Soca Raja, kept the energy high and the crowd engaged. They did an amazing job bringing everyone together and making sure the night flowed smoothly.
Young Talent and Beautiful Performances
One of the highlights was 16-year-old Emily Joseph. She lit up the stage with her beautiful Bollywood dancing, showing some serious talent. It’s so inspiring to see young performers like Emily shining bright.
We also had the dynamic sister duo, Emily Singh and Anjali, who traveled all the way from Toronto to be part of this special night. Their performances were filled with energy and grace.
Angel Caribbean Band brought their unique sound and had everyone on their feet. Their music was the perfect blend of rhythm and soul, making the night even more unforgettable.
Geeta Bisram and Natasha Sundar also graced us with their presence. Natasha’s beautiful singing and dancing captivated everyone in the room, adding a touch of elegance to the evening.
And talk about dedication—DJ Fess showed up to volunteer his services on his birthday! Now that’s what I call commitment to the community. It was heartwarming to see him putting others first on his special day.
Shelly Ramnanan’s dance group brought the house down with their spectacular routines. The choreography, the synchronization—it was all on point, showcasing the incredible talent in our community.
A Night of Love and Support
Seeing the outpouring of love and support was nothing short of incredible. Friends, family, and fans came together to show Roshan that he’s not alone in this fight. It was a powerful reminder that when one of us is in need, the community steps up.
Lakshmee Singh beautifully expressed what we were all feeling: “This is the person that brings light to so many of us, so we want to be able to bring some sort of light into Roshan’s life.” She sent prayers to Maha Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity, for Roshan’s recovery—a sentiment we all echoed throughout the night.
As Roshan himself said, “Music is eternal.” And so is the love and support from this community. Last night wasn’t just about raising funds; it was about lifting spirits, sharing hope, and creating a wave of positive energy for a man who has given so much to all of us.
A big shoutout to Kaieteur Restaurant, Hibiscus Restaurant, Legend Cookhouse, Bakewell Restaurant, and BigWell Restaurant for donating delicious food that kept everyone fueled and happy.
Special thanks to Richard from Extreme Sounds for donating the sound system. And of course, thank you to all the artists—singers, dancers, musicians, DJs, and MCs—who volunteered their services to make this event a success.
Support Roshan
Overall, it was a great event for a worthy cause. Roshan, we wish you well. God is great, and with the love and support from this amazing community, we know you’ll get through this.
If you couldn’t make it to the event, don’t worry—you can still help out. Consider donating to Roshan’s GoFundMe to support his treatment and help him get back on his feet.
His main goal to get back on his feet is to go out and help others.

Here’s to Roshan’s recovery and to many more nights filled with Abee Chunes. Stay strong, Roshan—we’re all with you. Music is eternal, and so is the love from this amazing community.
