Kevin’s Guyanese-Style Air Fryer Beef Jerky
A modern twist to a timeless snack! This method of crafting beef jerky in the air fryer ensures a perfect blend of savory flavors and satisfying chewiness. Lean beef slices marinated to perfection, then air-dried to create a delectable jerky that's both wholesome and convenient.
Ingredients
- 1 pound of thinly sliced beef – Beef Eye of Round Roast or Top London broil & Bottom Round Roast Make sure to trim off the excess fat as fat causes the jerky to spoil faster. Slice ¼" wide strips in the same direction as the grain of the meat for a chewier jerky. Slice ¼" wide strips in the opposite direction of the grain of the meat for a tenderer jerky.
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 packets Sazón
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- Dash of Liquid smoke optional
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, dried thyme, red pepper flakes, chili powder, Sazón and a dash of liquid smoke to create the marinade.
- Place the thinly sliced beef in a resalable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Ensure all slices are well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
- Remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Lightly coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Arrange the marinated beef slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping.
- Set the air fryer temperature to dehydrate and dehydrate the beef slices for 3-6 hours, flipping them halfway through. Cooking times may vary based on your air fryer model and the thickness of the beef.
- Check the beef jerky for desired doneness. It should be firm, with a slight chew. If needed, continue air frying in 15-minute increments until the desired texture is achieved.
Notes
Once done, sprinkle some black pepper and let the beef jerky cool before storing it in an airtight container. Enjoy the savory and spicy flavors of this beef jerky – a delightful snack that packs a punch!
