Garam Masala is the secret weapon in many Indian dishes, adding depth, warmth, and complexity with its signature mix of spices. You can find pre-made versions in Indian stores, but making your own is an easy way to ensure maximum flavor. With a simple blend of cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, black pepper, and nutmeg, this homemade version is perfect for adding that final burst of flavor right before serving your dishes.

How to Make Garam Masala

Start by gathering your spices: cardamom seeds, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, cloves, black peppercorns, and nutmeg. You’ll need a spice grinder or coffee grinder to bring it all together into a fragrant, fine powder. Once everything is ground to perfection, store your freshly made Garam Masala in an airtight jar to keep it fresh for weeks. The aroma alone is enough to get your taste buds dancing!
