Ingredients

For the Dumplings:

For the Ground Provisions:

  • 1 green banana peeled, sliced in half
  • 1 cassava small, peeled and chopped
  • 1 sweet potato small
  • 1 eddo or small yam
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp oil in the water to prevent sticking

Instructions

Prep the Ground Provisions

  • Peel and chop cassava, yam, banana, and sweet potato into manageable chunks.
1 green banana, 1 cassava, 1 sweet potato, 1 eddo
  • Rinse them well and set aside.

Make the Dumplings

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
    2 cups all-purpose flour, ½ tsp salt
  • Slowly add water and knead until you get a smooth, firm dough.
    ¾ cup water
  • Break into small pieces and roll into discs or log shapes. Set aside.

Boil It All

  • Fill a large pot with enough water to cover everything. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil.
Salt to taste, ½ tsp oil
  • Add the ground provisions first (since they take longer). Let them boil for about 10–12 mins.
  • Add the dumplings. Boil for another 15–20 mins or until both dumplings and provisions are fork-tender.

Drain and Serve

  • Drain everything, plate it up, and serve it hot with your favorite protein, stew, or butter and pepper sauce.
